Food for Friends

As I was doing research with my contact in Haiti, I was unable to find the church’s website. I believe it to be just a mistake, but I can continued as planned. Time will tell. Hopefully Food for Friends will happen.

Haiti has long struggled with malnutrition, which UNICEF says is responsible for about 60 percent of all deaths in people under 18 in the country. The exact number of malnourished kids in Haiti is unknown, but health workers believe there are thousands of children just like the starving brothers, mostly in hard-to-reach rural areas, slowly suffering out of sight of the massive humanitarian effort in the capital. In the mean time, I think that a four way food drive, one at the church and at each of the three synagogues in my community will suffice. The location where the church usually donates will likely be one that I can trust. I will talk with the church and with the synagogues when I get home from vacation. Perhaps a fifth and sixth location are the two schools I am hoping will host Items for Orphans will help as well.
